Good Restaurant
Bar Doval at Avenida Senador César Vergueiro, 1115 - Jardim São Luiz, Ribeirao Preto. Help yourself then weigh the plates. Sometimes they'll have live musicians on stage. Prices are reasonable and we think you'll love it. Unfortunately they stopped serving the buffet during week days. Now they only serve it on the weekends and holidays. The menu during the week is okay but not anything to rave about. My advice...go on the weekends or holidays only.
Great Homemade Ice Cream!
"Sorvete do Geraldo" is on the corner of Saudade and Anita Garibalde. They've been making homemade ice cream in Ribeirao Preto for over 40 years. Small cups are R$4.00 and larger cups are R$6.50. They have other options such as cones, larger containers for take home, Sundae's, and some huge thing they call the "Ula Ula" which they serve in a halved pineapple. We haven't tried that yet but the next time we're there with 6 or more people, we'll probably give it a try!

Ribeirao Preto Charity that needs our help
If you're a charitable person and/or work for a company that will get involved with a community charity, my wife and I recommend that you help a not for profit Ribeirao Preto children's hospital, "Cantinho do Ceu."
We visited "Cantinho do Ceu" (Little Corner of Heaven) today and were given a tour of the facility by it's founder, Sonia. Sonia introduced us to many children of all ages as well as adults that have been cared for by this organization since they were children. We were amazed and impressed with what we found at this facility. Clean, caring, around the clock top quality care for all children. We observed that care givers were taking care of these children as if they were their own.
One of the first things I noticed at the beginning of our tour was the background music playing in most rooms. The children really love music and it brings them much comfort. The second thing I noticed was the cleanliness of the hospital, the quality of the bed sheets, bed covers and the custom clothing made for each child in the facility's sewing room.
Please get involved and encourage others to get involved in supporting this organization. They are challenged to cover their monthly expenses as they continue to support the ever increasing needs of the children.
If you need language translation for a tour of Cantinho do Ceu (English, Spanish, Italian) please let us know. If we're available, we'll go with you on the tour. What you will see will change your life and put things in a different perspective.
